Western North Dakota Fire Relief Resources

Below is a comprehensive list of resources to help those affected by the fires in Western North Dakota. Due to the outpour of community aid, the communities of Ray and Tioga have asked for no more physical donations, and to donate directly to the families affected. However, The Mandan Hidatsa Arikara (MHA) Nation in New Town is still requesting physical donations. Please see below for more information

The best way to help support those affected is through monetary donations.

Thank you all!

  • "Farm Rescue is currently seeking financial support from individuals, corporations, and foundations to fund our disaster relief efforts in western North Dakota. As the only organization in North Dakota and United States that supports family farm and ranch operations experiencing crisis, including natural disasters, Farm Rescue is uniquely positioned to help the farms and ranches affected by the terrible wildfires. We are currently making preparations to secure hay, equipment, and drivers to offer short term and medium term support for farms and ranches. We are also aware that the wildfires may have inflicted significant damage to forms and ranches, requiring our more intensive case support, including planting, haying, and harvesting.

We are seeking donations totaling $200,000 to fund our work in western North Dakota over the next several months. Donations can be made via our website at: https://farmrescue.org/get_involved/donate/

Potential partners can also direct questions to us via email at: info@farmrescue.org

We would gladly work with partners to create acknowledgments of any donations. There may also be opportunities for volunteer support in delivery or other work. We would also be grateful for support in identifying farm and ranch families in need."

  • The North Dakota Community Foundation (NDCF) has established the 2024 Western North Dakota Fire Relief Fund to assist in disaster response and recovery efforts.  All gifts to the 2024 Western North Dakota Fire Relief Fund are tax-deductible as charitable contributions.

  • To help North Dakota cattlemen and women offset losses from these destructive fires and the challenges that are sure to linger long after the last flame is put out, the non-profit organizations are launching the Out of the Ashes Wildfire Disaster Relief Program. The NDSA and NDSF have kickstarted the relief fund with a $50,000 initial contribution and are inviting others to join them by contributing to the effort.

Monetary contributions to the Out of the Ashes Wildfire Disaster Relief Program can be made two ways:

    1. Checks can be made to the NDSF with “Out of the Ashes” written in the memo and sent to 4520 Ottawa St., Bismarck, ND 58503; or

    2. Credit card gifts can be made online by clicking the link below.

The gifts will be pooled and distributed in their entirety to North Dakota cattle ranchers this winter through an application and nomination process. A committee comprised of fellow ranchers will review the applications and distribute the funds to those most in need.  Application and nomination forms for the disaster relief program will be available at the end of the month at www.ndstockmen.org.
