Chamber’s Leadership Williston Graduate Plans to Help Residents “Plant Their Roots” in Williston

Williston, N.D. - The Western Star Foundation, an organization of the Williston Area Chamber of Commerce, is pleased to present a Leadership Williston project aimed at helping residents leave a legacy in the community.

Katie Brewer, a Mortgage Loan Originator from US Bank and 2022 Leadership Williston graduate, is inviting families, couples or individuals to sponsor a tree to be planted in their name or in the name of a loved one through her Leadership Williston project titled “Plant Your Roots in Williston.”

“I want this project to help families feel more connected to the community that they call ‘home’ and allow them to leave behind a lasting legacy that will add beauty to the city for years to come,” said Brewer.

Brewer is partnering with Dakota Pro Landscape and the Williston Parks and Recreation District to give sponsors the option of planting either a Red Splendor or Spring Snow tree at West Lawn Park. The planting will take place this summer.

Each tree site will bear a plaque featuring the sponsor’s name and a short message if they wish. The donors will also receive a certificate that includes the location of their tree within the park.

Reservations are open but spots are limited. To learn more and to reserve your tree, call Katie Brewer at 406-853-0667.

Brewer adds, “As of now, this is a one-time event, but if demand is high enough, we may look into adding more spots next planting season.”
